This is a very friendly karate club dedicated to teaching traditional Okinawan karate. They run karate classes for all ages and levels Sunday and Thursdays. The club is run by Mr Sam Nelstrop who has been training karate for over 25 years. MR Nelstop has trained in Kyokushinkai (full contact) and Goju-Ryu karate in Japan and in England and is third degree black belt graded by the EGKA and IOGKF.They also give a free taster lesson if you not sure what is all about my advice try first ask question and make your mind.Good luck

Amazing experience, great atmosphere and friendly Sensei. I went to Goju Ryu for my free taster and I decided this is the perfect place to learn Karate. I will also bring my son, as Sam is also great with children, not everyone knows how to deal with children.

Great people and a great atmosphere. I've been lucky to train at many great clubs and in many different styles over the years, and it is always a real treasure to find somewhere so dedicated to teaching a genuine martial art such as this. Personally, I don't hesitate to include this club among them. Training is tough but fair, with each person finding their own level then building from there. I feel confident that training here provides both genuine physical development, but also a real sense of fulfilment from the strong historical connection you feel from an art that has such strong roots going all the way back to ancient China. Fascinating stuff, should you choose to dig. With the adult sessions, I love that the atmosphere reflects the Okinawan principle - 'damatte keiko'. My children train here as well and it's a different experience, with just enough focus for them to progress, but also relaxed enough that they can have fun while learning. Recognising these are indeed children, but at the same time maintaining an unwavering focus on respect at all times. A difficult task, one that Sam seems to manage effortlessly, I know I couldn't do it so well !!! In my time here I've seen a few of the older kids transition into young adult-hood, and they most certainly spent that time well. Great karateka, great spirit, great club. Well done Sam, your effort and dedication is always appreciated.
