- 18:00 to 19:00 juniors and cadets (all grades)
- 19:00 to 20:30 adults and senior cadets
Sunday 22nd Feb:
- 17:00 to 18:30 Juniors and cadets (all grades)
- Juniors may drop out at 18:00
Grading date and times
Grading will take place on 1st March:
- Adult grading 10:00 to 12:00 (5 and 10-man kumite from 12:00 to 12:30)
- Junior grading 17:00 to 18:00
- Cadet grading 18:00 to 19:30
The main criteria for grading is as follows and I appreciate that some of this is subjective.
- To meet the syllabus requirements
- Technical ability and improvement
- Attitude and behaviour
- Students should have trained for approximately 25 hours (except white belts) since their previous grading. Higher grades need to have trained for longer.
- In particular, students yellow belt and above should be able to perform the kata for their grade without any mistakes. Higher grade students should be able to perform good kata with accurate, quick and powerful techniques.
There is still a few weeks to go so if you want to go for your grading, let me know and I’ll do everything I can to get you prepared.
EGKA Spring Gasshuku
Myself and some of our students will be attending the EGKA Spring Gashuku. This is a good opportunity to train with Sensei Henrik Larsen. For those going for black belt gradings soon, please be reminded that part of the SHODAN grading requirement is that you must attend 2 EGKA gasshukus this year.
EGKA London Regional Goju Ryu Karate Championships, Sunday, 26th April 2026
Following our successful in-house competition, those who want to step up their game, I would recommend attending the EGKA London Regional Goju-Ryu Karate Championships to be held on Sunday, 26th April 2026 in Chessington, Surrey. I will be attending and supporting our students as much as can (as I will also be helping with refereeing etc).
